Fantastic Fest Announces Indie Titles for Fantastic Arcade 2011
Fantastic Fest, the annual film festival based in Austin, TX, is bringing back Fantastic Arcade, a showcase for a number of selected indie games. Juegos Rancheros, an Austin-based indie game site, has posted a press release from Fantastic Fest, detailing the games that will be available to play at the event. Fantastic Arcade takes place on September 22-25 and is sponsored this year by PlayStation® Network. It is hosted in Austin’s Alamo Drafthouse and is free to the public.
In addition to panel discussions, developer talks, and game tournaments, the following games will be featured as part of the event’s main competition, and we’ve rounded up the trailers so you can take a look.
Capsized (Alientrap) – A plaformer centered around a stranded space traveler that has crash-landed on a hostile alien planet.
Faraway (Little-Eyes) – The latest title from Steph Thirion, in which players use a single button to control a comet and create constellations across the cosmos.
Fez (Polytron) – A 2D platformer centered around the concept of exploring a 3D world.
FRACT (Phosfiend Systems) – Winner for Best Student Game at this year’s Independent Games Festival. Richard E. Flanagan’s unique 3D puzzler based inside a computerized world of sound.
Jesus Vs. Dinosaurs (Martin Jonasson, Petri Purho) – Dinosaurs aren’t in the Bible, so players must take control of God to go back in time and smite those giant lizards good! Also, build cars quickly before Charles Darwin does!
Octodad (Young Horses) – Take control of the title cephalopod and try to pass as a human, making sure to avoid exposing Octodad’s secret.
Radical Fishing (Vlambeer) – Before Vlambeer takes the next step in the series with the upcoming Ridiculous Fishing, take a look at the game that came before it.
Skulls of the Shogun (Haunted Temple Studios) – The turn-based strategy game in which players control shogun warriors on the shores of the afterlife.
